SBCAG TO RELAUNCH CLEAN AIR EXPRESS

SATURDAY SERVICE WITH FREE SERVICE

On July 9 and July 16 the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) is offering free coach bus service on the Clean Air Express Saturday service connecting Santa Barbara and the Santa Ynez Valley.  The Saturday-only service allows anyone in Santa Barbara to travel to Buellton, Solvang, and Los Olivos for the day, and anyone in Buellton and Solvang to travel to Santa Barbara for the day.  Beginning July 9, the service travels directly to Los Olivos from pick up locations on State Street in Santa Barbara, serving the high demand for travelers who prefer to ride on a comfortable coach to the Santa Ynez Valley rather than drive a car.

“Saturday Clean Air Express service provides a vital link between these two regions and all they have to offer”, said SBCAG board member and Santa Barbara Mayor Helene Schneider.  “Now there is an easy, comfortable way for residents in the Valley to get to the beach, downtown Santa Barbara, and festivals like Solstice and Fiesta, and for tourists and residents in Santa Barbara to travel to all the attractions in Buellton, Solvang, and Los Olivos.”

The service operates one round trip in the morning and one round trip in the afternoon every Saturday.  For full schedule information, call (805) 692-1902 or visit the Clean Air Express website at CleanAirExpress.com.  SBCAG, the County of Santa Barbara, Visit Santa Ynez Valley, the Buellton Visitors Bureau, the Solvang Visitors Bureau, and Visit Santa Barbara are funding partners for the Saturday service.  Following the free service and other service promotions in July, the single fare will be $7, with a book of ten one-way tickets $50.

Now in its 26th year of operation, the Clean Air Express serves residents of North Santa Barbara commuting to their jobs in Santa Barbara and Goleta.  The service carries 200,000 passengers a year on thirteen weekday round trips from Santa Maria, Lompoc, Buellton, and Solvang.  The Clean Air Express features charter-style buses with free Wi-Fi, reclining seats, and internal bays for transporting bicycles.
