THE CITY OF SOLVANG AND THE SOLVANG CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ARE CREATING AN ENERGY WATCH PARTNERSHIP FOR RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES.

The Solvang Chamber of Commerce has created a collaboration with the Santa Barbara County Energy Watch Partnership.  The funding sponsors for this partnership are Pacific Gas & Electric and Southern California Gas Company. The Energy Watch Partnership program has been urging business participation toward energy efficiency in the Solvang community since 2010 and 39 local businesses have participated in the Partnership's Direct Install program. These businesses have saved 719,410 kilowatt hours and $107,912 annually in energy costs.  Our goal for Solvang residents and businesses is to increase participation in this program by 35% by December 31, 2016.

The Solvang Chamber of Commerce was the first Chamber in Santa Barbara County to become a Certified Green Business through the Green Business Program of Santa Barbara County.  This distinction makes us a good choice to partner with the Energy Watch Program and work with PG&E and SoCalGas.  The Solvang Chamber of Commerce is reaching out to Solvang's residents and businesses on energy use, gas, lighting, water and green business savings.

Available for all residents and businesses to borrow from the Solvang Chamber of Commerce are "Kill A Watt" meters, provided by the Energy Watch Partnership. A "Kill A Watt" meter allows the user to see how much energy is used by their appliances, equipment and devices in their home or business and identifies the biggest energy users. Residents and businesses can call the Solvang Chamber of Commerce to reserve a meter.

Survey

Residents and businesses will be urged to support the "Solvang Goes Green" energy program by going to the energy survey on the Solvang Chamber of Commerce website.  The Solvang Chamber of Commerce has dedicated a special website, Solvanggreen.com and has included links to PG&E and SoCalGas on the business savings program.  The survey must be completed by October 31, 2016.  Fully completed residential surveys will be entered into a drawing for an Energy Efficient Cold Water Washer and Energy Efficient Dryer.

Business survey winners will receive $500 cash to put towards their PG&E or SoCalGas bill.  Second place will receive $250 cash to put towards their PG&E or SoCalGas bill.
