Held in early May on Mother’s Day weekend, it’s the perfect time to visit this haven for outdoor recreation. The area has plenty to offer including beach and ocean activities, hiking, biking and running trails, historic towns and missions, plenty of shopping and restaurant options, and an abundance of wineries and tasting rooms. And you’ll LOVE this scenic course that runs from downtown Santa Ynez through Los Olivos into the Danish-settled town of Solvang. Bring your family and friends to enjoy a weekend full of activities in this bucolic setting and celebrate in style at the expanded post-race Wine & Music Festival in Solvang Park. Run the half marathon or the two-person relay. Registration for this popular event is limited to 3,000 runners due to our commitment to minimize the impact in this beautiful area and to provide our guests with a quality destination running experience. All runners or fast walkers must be able to keep a 16:00 per mile pace and finish in 3 hours and 30 minutes or less to register. The minimum age requirement for the half marathon is 12 years. This course is considered very scenic and medium difficulty, with gentle rolling terrain on backcountry roads. Note, you have the option of purchasing the event wine glass with access to the wine and beer tasting area, or purchasing registration without that option. Teams MUST have a minimum of 6 team members to qualify as a team and receive the $10 entry fee discount. Teams may consist of any combination of male and female runners. Teams can have a maximum of 20 runners per team. If over 20 members, you must register at least two teams of 6 members or more per team. Teams that do not reach the minimum number of runners will be charged an additional $20 (per runner) and moved to the individual category. Credits are not given for runners that sign up as Individuals and then transferred to a Team. A Team Captain must first register and create the team name and password. Afterwards, each runner on the team must register in the Team category under the chosen team name, which will be displayed in a drop down box. Scoring Team members will be scored both as an Individual and in the Team competition. The top 5 times from each team will be combined to get the total team time. All times are age and gender handicapped based on the standard USATF handicap system. Custom Travel Planning and Concierge Services
The 2-Person Relay team allows two runners to split the 13.1-mile distance. The first section of the course is 5.8 miles and the second section is 7.3 miles. The relay transition area is located in the town of Los Olivos. Your 2-person team must be able to complete the 13.1-mile course in 3 hr 30 min. To register a 2-Person Relay Team you must submit a team name and register both participants at the same time.
