Solvang Rotary donates $50,000 to Capital Campaign

Jul 31, 2018

Numbers are in! Solvang Rotary Club held the Hollywood Revisited fundraiser at the Solvang Festival Theatre in May benefitting the Solvang Senior Center. The event raised $41,000. The Solvang Rotary Foundation approved an additional $9,000 in funding bringing the total donation to the center to a whopping $50,000 supporting the centers capital campaign for a new facility.

More than 400 were in attendance at Hollywood Revisited, an unforgettable evening of musical revue showcasing stunning costumes worn in original Hollywood films. Guests listened to stories told about the captivating costumes and the roles they played in the Golden Age with actors recreating those moments in song. Guests also enjoyed a silent and live auction, and a sumptuous Mexican dinner prepared by Atterdag Village of Solvang.

Linda Johansen, event organizer and Solvang Rotarian said, “I am proud of the tireless commitment our Rotary Club made to this event, and the decision to donate 100% of the proceeds to Solvang Senior Center. This donation will make a positive impact on so many in our community. Thank you also for the incredible support by club member, Carol Anders.”

Solvang Rotary Club members spent countless hours planning the event with Ellen Albertoni, Solvang Senior Center Executive Director. Thank you to the generous sponsors of the event: Atterdag Village of Solvang, Burger Barn, Belgium Cafe, Bob and Carol Jackson, Linda Johansen, Montecito Bank and Trust, Paula’s Pancake House, Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital and Solvang Rotary Foundation.

The Solvang Senior Center’s modular facility is more than 30 years old. Plans are to build a larger, permanent facility to enrich the lives and meet the growing needs of our communities aging population. Solvang Senior Center serves a critical need providing support to 450 adults aged 55 and older from throughout the Santa Ynez Valley. Approximately 90 percent have low or fixed incomes and two thirds live alone.

The Solvang Senior Center is located at 1745 Mission Drive, Unit A in Solvang. For more information visit their website at: solvangseniorcenter.org or call (805) 688-3793.
