Recent Action by Governor Newsom

 

  • On September 30, Governor Newsom issued a statement following the release of an updated version of the HEROES Act amid bipartisan negotiations on federal COVID-19 relief. The statement in part read, "I want to express my continued and strong support for many of the economic relief measures in the HEROES Act that directly help businesses, workers, families and individuals."   • On September 29, in the midst of the most destructive wildfire season in California history, Governor Newsom announced that he signed a series of bills to improve the state’s emergency preparedness and response efforts, support wildfire survivors and safeguard communities in high fire hazard areas.   • On September 28, Governor Newsom issued an emergency proclamation for the counties of Napa, Sonoma and Shasta due to the Glass and Zogg fires, which have burned tens of thousands of acres, destroyed homes and critical infrastructure and caused the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents.   • On September 28, Governor Newsom announced the third round of awards for Homekey, California’s innovative, nation-leading $600 million program to purchase and rehabilitate housing – including hotels, motels, vacant apartment buildings and other properties – and convert them into permanent, long-term housing for people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. Governor Newsom Makes California Cannabis Terroir Program Official with SB 67 Signing
