Dee Dee Myers  named Go BIZ Senior Advisor

Governor Newsom today announced the appointment of Dee Dee Myers to serve as Senior Advisor to the Governor and Director of GO-Biz, a cabinet-level position. Governor Newsom said, "An economic recovery that lifts all Californians will require us to work together. With more than three decades of experience in both the public and private sectors – in California and nationally – Dee Dee brings an ability to work across sectors, ensuring that our recovery is built upon common ground and common solutions."

"Dee Dee Myers, the first female White House press secretary in history and recently a top executive for Warner Bros., will become the chief economic and business adviser for California Gov. Gavin Newsom as he grapples with a pandemic-stricken economy.

Myers, 59, will start Friday as senior adviser to Newsom and director of the Governor's Office of Business and Economic Development, she said in an interview with POLITICO [...] 'There are challenges — but a lot of opportunities here,' Myers said of the state's economic situation, adding that she's eager 'to get these businesses, and small businesses, back on their feet and provide resources and capital.'"
