Danish Days continues to celebrate Solvang'’s Danish heritage every year for the last 81 years.


Free Concert in Solvang Park - 4:00pm

Musicians, (band/musicians TBA), perform live at the Solvang Park Gazebo, Mission Drive and First Street.

Chainsaw Carver, George Kenny - 4:00pm

Chainsaw Carver, George Kenny, will begin carving his wooden creations on Friday afternoon; spectators will be able to view the progress of his work throughout the weekend.

Viking Beer & Wine Garden - 5:00pm – 10:00pm

Enjoy an outdoor beer & wine garden; supports the Solvang Danish Days Foundation. (You must be 21 years of age or older to enter the Viking Beer & Wine Garden and to purchase alcoholic beverages.)

Torchlight Parade - 7:30pm

Be a part of the Torchlight Parade! Free, all welcome, candles provided. Beginning on Alisal Road and Laurel Avenue; strolling south down Alisal and ending at the Midgaard Pavilion Stage.

Opening Ceremonies - 8:00pm

Opening Ceremonies at the Midgaard Pavilion introducing 2017 Danish Maid, Gabrielle Heron, and 2017 Grand Marshal. Velkommen Street Dance follows with Danish dancers performing to live music, and a short story narrated by Randel McGee as Hans Christian Andersen.

Since 1936, Danish Days celebrates Solvang’s heritage with authentic food, music, dancing, parades, live entertainment and family activities. In 1946, a reporter from The Saturday Evening Post visited during Danish Days and the article that appeared in January 1947 brought droves of people to visit Little Denmark in California. Three parades, Aebleskiver breakfasts, lots of live music and dancing, living history presentations, vendor showcases and much more.
