According to Solvang Conference & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) Executive Director Tracy Farhad, this is the second year in which SCVB has partnered with the Solvang Chamber of Commerce to expand the “China Ready” initiatives including working with local businesses, Chinese tour operators, travel agents and media to welcome Chinese visitors year-round. Chinese Lunar New Year 2018 falls on Friday, February 16 and will last to Friday, March 2. As an official public holiday, Chinese people may receive seven days' absence from work February 15-21, 2018. Chinese Lunar New Year (also known as the Spring Festival Holiday) is celebrated by 20% of the world’s population with schools in China and Asia out for almost a month and an estimated 200 million Mainland Chinese travel long distances—a major time for visitors to Solvang. This free seminar “Monetizing Opportunities with Chinese Visitors” is scheduled on January 18, 2018, to optimize this welcoming opportunity.
